More Aussie visitors to Bundaberg

Federal Member for Hinkler Keith Pitt has welcomed the latest National Visitor Survey which shows more Australian visitors are choosing to holiday at home, spending their time in Bundaberg.

“The region’s natural beauty and attractions like the turtles at Mon Repos and our national parks are driving more Aussies to explore the Bundaberg region,” Mr Pitt said.

“I’m pleased the new data from the National Visitor Survey reveals Bundaberg had 601,000 visitors, up 8 percent on the previous 12 months.

“It’s great to see people are also keen on outdoor and fitness activities during their staycations, with more than 6.5 million visiting one of the many beaches along the Queensland coastline.

Mr Pitt said the NVS data found visitors spent 1,909,000 nights in Bundaberg, with an average 3 night stay.

“More tourists are visiting the Bundaberg region and they’re spending more money locally.”

Visitor spending in the Bundaberg region was $248 million, a 7 percent increase on the previous 12 months.

“More tourists mean more jobs in the Bundaberg region, which is why the Coalition Government continues to provide record funding for Tourism Australia.”
