Keith Pitt thanks voters for support
Building a stronger regional economy with more local jobs remains the key priority for Federal Member for Hinkler Keith Pitt after being re-elected for a third time.
Speaking after the Declaration of the Poll in Bundaberg this afternoon Mr Pitt thanked voters in the electorate for putting their trust in him once again.
âBeing elected for a third term is a humbling experience and I couldnât have done it without the help and support of the volunteers, members and supporters from Bundaberg, right through to Hervey Bay and everywhere in between.
âI want to take this opportunity to reiterate what I said after the election, to the Labor voters who have put their trust in us for the first time, we wonât let you down.
âAs stated throughout the campaign, my number one priority for this electorate is jobs. Weâve seen some positive signs with the youth unemployment rate falling in recent months, and I hope that trend continues.
âThere are a number of projects which will create more local employment, including the Macadamiaâs Australia expansion, as well as Bundaberg Brewed Drinksâ new super brewery.
âThe Hinkler Regional Deal will grow the local economy with the expansion at the Hervey Bay Airport and the Hervey Bay CBD redevelopment in the southern end of the electorate and in the north, a multi-use conveyer belt at the Port of Bundaberg and an AgTech Precinct with CQUniversity, with bring about significant changes.
âI look forward to seeing the Hinkler Regional Deal develop further and seeing what projects and funding the two local councils and the Queensland State Labor Government will contribute.
âAnd lastly, I want to thank my family for their love and support throughout the campaign.â
