Media Statement: Protestors invited to meet with MP
Media statement from Keith Pitt MP who invited protestors to meet with him today 09-06-17:
âWe are fortunate to live in a country where we have the right to express our views through peaceful public protest.
âA small group of people gathered outside my office today to show their opposition to the Cashless Debit Card. I invited representatives from the group into my office to hear their concerns and answer their questions. They accepted.
âThe meeting was very constructive and a number of misconceptions were clarified.
âWhile some people are ideologically opposed and will never support it, others are simply misinformed.
âMany people who have contacted my office about the Card are supportive once they have all the facts and understand it wonât impact veterans, aged pensioners or people with disabilities.
âAs well as conducting surveys, I have met with businesses, welfare groups, teachers and medical professionals. The majority of our community support the introduction of the Cashless Debit Card.â
