Keith Pitt thanks Hinkler voters

Thursday, 28 July 2016

Re-elected Federal Member for Hinkler Keith Pitt has today thanked the voters of the electorate for putting their trust in him.

Speaking after the Declaration of the Poll in Bundaberg this morning, Mr Pitt renewed his commitment to serving the constituents of Hinkler.

“I want to take this opportunity to again thank the voters in Hinkler who have entrusted me to represent their interests and be their advocate in Canberra for another three years.

“I want to thank all the volunteers and supporters who gave their time so willingly to help.

“And finally, I want to thank my wife Allison, my children and my family for their unconditional support during what was a long election campaign. I couldn’t have done it without them.”

Mr Pitt said as he stated throughout the campaign, his number one priority for this electorate is jobs.

“Now that the Coalition has been returned to Government, I look forward to seeing the $20 million Wide Bay Burnett Jobs Package come to fruition.

“This investment will diversify the local economy, create local jobs and grow skills in the local workforce.

“And I will continue to fight to secure the HMAS Tobruk for a military dive wreck, which has the potential to create more local jobs and bring up to $5 million to the local economy per year.

“I urge the Queensland State Labor Government to grab this opportunity with both hands. There are only nine days left to submit its proposal to the Department of Defence.

Mr Pitt said he was honoured to be appointed as Assistant Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment.

“I’m pleased to have the opportunity to contribute to such an important portfolio and one that is extremely relevant to the Hinkler electorate.”
