Coalition delivers $1.9 million for new school facilities

Thursday, 12 November 2015

Federal Member for Hinkler Keith Pitt today announced $1.9 million for new facilities at St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School.

Mr Pitt said the Capital Grants funding would go towards the $2.35 million renovation being carried out at the Bundaberg-based Catholic primary school, which includes:

  • conversion of existing undercroft to three general learning areas;

  • construction of three general learning areas and verandas;

  • construction of a covered lunch area and maintenance shed;

  • refurbishing and extending the existing administration facilities; and

  • building new carpark and set-down/pick-up zones.

“I congratulate Catholic Education, in particular the St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School community, on their successful grant application,” Mr Pitt said.

“These Commonwealth grants are important for easing the cost burden of delivering capital works for non-government schools.

“This is yet another example of how Governments can partner with the community for the benefit of our local students.”

Catholic Education Diocesan Director Leesa Jeffcoat conveyed her thanks to the Federal Government for the funding.

St Patrick’s Catholic School Principal Mark Fox commented on the very positive impacts that the new facilities would have in enhancing the facilities for the students and staff of St Patrick’s.
