$5 million secured for redevelopment of Anzac Park
Bundaberg’s Anzac Park will undergo a major redevelopment thanks to a $5 million boost by the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund.
Federal Member for Hinkler Keith Pitt today announced the funding which will deliver improved facilities and infrastructure for the local community.
“The Bundaberg Regional Council will receive $5 million for the redevelopment of Anzac Park which will be a $18.9 million project to transform the entire riverside precinct.
“The redevelopment will provide recreational spaces including an adventure playground and zero depth water play area, a cultural hub, as well as the construction of two outdoor stages and grassed seating areas.
“Service personnel from across the region will have a new place to commemorate with a memorial walk as part of the redevelopment.
“Redeveloping the riverside area also ties in with plans to demain Quay Street, which received $32 million as part of the Hinkler Regional Deal.”
Expected economic benefits from the redevelopment range from being able to host small and large events for up to 8,000 people including outdoor concerts; increased visitation to the precinct with an estimated 299,000 visits annually; and increased business activity in the Bundaberg CBD.
“The Building Better Regions Program has funded other significant projects in Bundaberg including the joint Royal Flying Doctor Service and LifeFlight aeromedical hub in Bundaberg, and the Burnett Heads Town Centre Redevelopment.”
