Visitor numbers on the rise on the Fraser Coast

Federal Member for Hinkler Keith Pitt has welcomed the latest National Visitor Survey which shows more Australian visitors are choosing to holiday at home, spending their time on the Fraser Coast.

“The region’s natural beauty and attractions like whale watching and the beautiful beaches are driving more Aussies to explore the Fraser Coast,” Mr Pitt said.

“I’m pleased the new data from the National Visitor Survey reveals the Fraser Coast had 675,000 visitors, up 14 percent on the previous 12 months.

“It’s great to see people are also keen on outdoor and fitness activities during their staycations, with more than 6.5 million visiting one of the many beaches along the Queensland coastline.

Mr Pitt said the NVS data found visitors spent 2,939,000 nights on the Fraser Coast, with an average 4 night stay, which was up 15 percent on the previous 12 months.

“On the Fraser Coast more tourists are visiting and they’re staying longer and spending more money locally.”

Visitor spending on the Fraser Coast was $370 million, a 38 percent increase on the previous 12 months.

“More tourists mean more jobs on the Fraser Coast, which is why the Coalition Government continues to provide record funding for Tourism Australia.”
