Stronger Regions funding for Bargara park upgrade
The redevelopment of a popular Bargara park will become a reality after receiving funding in Round 3 of the Coalition Governmentâs National Stronger Regions Fund.
Federal Member for Hinkler Keith Pitt said the Bundaberg Regional Council project had been successful and will receive $401,078 under round three.
âThis is a great result for Hinkler, considering this was such a hotly contested funding round,â Mr Pitt said.
âThe redevelopment of Christsen Park at Bargara will provide improved recreational amenities for both locals and tourists at this popular part of the coast.
âWith this important partnership, the Coalition Government and the Bundaberg Regional Council are building a vibrant community.
âThe Coalition Government is also saying to the Hinkler community: we see the value in this region and itâs worth investing in,â Mr Pitt said.
Under Stage 2 of the redevelopment, there will be a new amenities block, new picnic shelters, tables and barbecues, as well as playgrounds and an open play space.
Minister for Regional Development Fiona Nash said the local projects funded under NSRF Round 3 made a huge difference in their communities.
âI aim to help build the kinds of communities our children and grandchildren either want to stay in or come back to, and quality local infrastructure is a big part of that,â Minister Nash said.
âWhether itâs cultural and healthcare facilities or tourism infrastructure, Iâm proud to be delivering for regional areas like Hinkler.
âSome 479 applications were lodged under Round 3, so it was a highly competitive, heavily subscribed round,â Minister Nash said.
