Questions without notice – Renewable energy

Tuesday, 26 October 2021

Ms MADELEINE KING (14:45): My question is to the Minister for Resources and Water. Yesterday the member for Mallee said about solar panels:

They don’t work in the dark, and neither do our wind farms.

Does the minister agree?

Mr PITT (14:46): I thank the honourable member for their question. The member Mallee is right: there are wind turbines that, when there is no wind over night, don’t work. They don’t work during the day when there is no wind. That is the nature of intermittent generation. That is just the reality of life.
