Media statement on ex-HMAS Tobruk

MEDIA STATEMENT FROM KEITH PITT MP REGARDING EX-HMAS TOBRUK:

“The State Government needs to come clean on the complete mess they’ve made of scuttling ex-HMAS Tobruk.  We’ve waited over three months to simply be told, “we won’t be doing anything to right the Tobruk”.

 “There are many questions which should be answered given this project was paid for by taxpayers and local ratepayers.

 “Has the contractor been paid in full? Has the contractor activated the insurance and where has this money gone?

 “What about the $1 million from both Bundaberg Regional Council and Fraser Coast Regional Council – what has this been used for? Should the council’s be asking for a refund?

 “The State Government needs to open the books and show what they spent against what has come in from councils and any insurance monies received from the contractor. Otherwise, we’re left wondering whether they’re out of pocket at all.  They could have even made a profit at ratepayers’ expense.”
