Hinkler schools invited to share in new funding

Tuesday, 23 July 2019

Applications open tomorrow (July 25) for local schools to apply for up to $20,000 in funding for new sporting, playground or computer equipment, building projects and support programs.

Federal Member for Hinkler Keith Pitt is encouraging all schools in the Hinkler electorate to apply to the Local Schools Community Fund.

“Schools can apply for grants of between $1,000 and $20,000 to contribute to a variety of school projects and associated costs,” Mr Pitt said.

“I’m sure our local schools will have some great projects in mind which will support the learning outcomes for their students and to enhance school facilities.”

Projects could include small-scale extensions or classroom refurbishments, new computer facilities, mental health and counselling services, playground equipment, library resources, or sports facilities.

“Schools may lodge one application for each of their campuses, so it’s important that the project identified delivers a real benefit for their local school community,” he said.

The Local Schools Community Fund is open to government, Independent and Catholic schools, but eligibility conditions will apply, and proposed projects will be assessed by a committee to be appointed by the Member for Hinkler.

The Federal Government announced the $30.2 million Local Schools Community Fund in the 2019 Budget.

Applications will be through SchoolsHUB – https://schools.education.gov.au/.

Schools may submit one application for up to $20,000 funding for each of their campuses. Applications open on 25 July 2019 and close on 30 September 2019 and projects must be completed by the end of 2020.
