Disaster resilience projects funded in Hinkler

Two projects to help boost disaster resilience in the Hinkler electorate have been funded through the 2015-18 National Partnership Agreement on Natural Disaster Resilience.

Federal Member for Hinkler Keith Pitt welcomed today’s funding announcement which will help address local risks.

“The Fraser Coast Regional Council will receive $48,360 to install a rain/river gauge on the Burrum River to increase the council’s awareness of impending flooding.

“The Burnett Catchment Care Association received $271,000 and will appoint an agricultural Community Resilience Officer to assist Burnett agri-business examine their operations and determine ways to mitigate the impact of natural disasters,” Mr Pitt said.

The 2017-18 Natural Disaster Resilience Program is administered by Queensland Reconstruction Authority.
