Post-Budget listening tour across Hinkler

Hinkler residents with questions or comments about the 2015-16 Budget will be able to speak directly to their Federal Member of Parliament in their communities next week.

Member for Hinkler Keith Pitt will travel across the electorate, listening to constituents’ views and concerns.

“My door is always open, but I want to assure people in Hinkler’s cities, towns and small communities, that their concerns are being heard,” Mr Pitt said.

“No matter where a person lives, they should have access to the person they elected to be their local voice in Canberra.”

Hinkler residents can drop into the nearest ‘Pitt Stop’ and have a chat or seek clarification on Budget issues on:

Monday, May 18           Bundaberg Electorate Office, 41 Woongarra Street, from 1.30pm to 3pm

Tuesday, May 19           Howard, Cnr of William & Burrum Sts (opp the Spar) from 9am to 10am

                                    Burrum Heads, Cr Light’s Office, Ivor & Burrum Heads Rd, 10.30am

                                    Hervey Bay, Apex Park, 304 Charlton Esp Pialba, from 1.30pm to 2.30pm

Wednesday, May 20      Bargara, Turtle Park on the Esplanade, from 9am to 10am

Thursday, May 21          Childers, Millenium Park Churchill St, from 12pm to 1pm

                                    Woodgate, the Esplanade opposite the General Store from 2pm to 3pm

Public input sought for Stronger Regions Fund

Hinkler residents with ideas for projects that will create jobs and stimulate the local economy are invited to attend community forums in Bundaberg and Hervey Bay next month.

Federal Member for Hinkler Keith Pitt said applications under Round One of the Australian Government’s landmark $1 billion National Stronger Regions Fund (NSRF) were now open.

“While it is up to Councils, community and not-for-profit groups to apply, I wanted to open the discussion up to all Hinkler residents,” Mr Pitt said.

“I encourage Hinkler residents to come along and have their say.”

The forums will be held at 5pm on Wednesday November 5 at the Bundaberg CWA Hall on Quay Street and at 5pm on Thursday November 6 at the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre on Charles Street.

“No matter where a person lives, they should have access to the person they elected to be their local voice in Canberra.”

Hinkler residents can drop into the Electorate Office on Woongarra Street in Bundaberg, between 11am and 1pm on Monday May 19.

Mr Pitt will visit the electorate’s many regional communities on Tuesday May 20:

9-10am                       Outside Burrum Heads Community Hall, Burrum Heads

10.30-11.30am           Cnr of William and Burrum Streets, Howard

Noon – 1.15pm          Cultural Centre Park, Childers

2-3pm                         Esplanade, opposite the General Store, Woodgate

Mr Pitt will also be at the Fraser Coast Show at Maryborough Showgrounds on Thursday May 22.

The Hinkler electorate office is hitting the road

Hinkler residents will have greater access to their Federal Member, with Keith Pitt scheduling regular visits to the electorate’s many communities.     

The Hinkler Electorate Office will hit the road between Parliamentary sitting weeks to meet residents who, for various reasons, find it difficult to travel to Bundaberg.

Mr Pitt will visit Hervey Bay and Childers later this week (March 14). He will visit Howard and Woodgate on Tuesday April 1, Hervey Bay on Monday April 7 and Burrum Heads in May.  Residents can request an appointment with Mr Pitt by telephoning 07 4152 0744 or emailing keith.pitt.mp@aph.gov.au.

Mr Pitt said he was delivering on his promise to represent all Hinkler residents.

“My door is always open, but I want to ensure people in Hervey Bay and Hinkler’s many smaller communities also feel their concerns are being heard,” he said.

“No matter where a person lives, they should have access to the person they elected to be their local voice in Canberra.

“The Coalition is delivering on its promise to be a consultative Government.”

Mr Pitt invited constituents to interact with him on Facebook and YouTube. Residents will also receive the first edition of Mr Pitt’s newsletter, Hinkler Headlines, in coming weeks.

Matters on which the Hinkler electorate office may be able to assist Hinkler constituents include pensions and family payments, veterans’ affairs, citizenship, passports, Medicare, immigration and taxation.
