‘Wash this space’ as Bundaberg makes an IMPACT

The new commercial laundry in Bundaberg, run by IMPACT Community Services will provide a much needed service for local industries and offer employment to disadvantaged groups in the region.

Minister for Regional Development, Territories and Local Government John McVeigh said the laundry is a great example of what the Australian Government is delivering for regional Australians.

“This project created 10 jobs during construction and 25 ongoing roles, which means more families spending, investing and creating jobs and confidence in the local community,” Dr McVeigh said.

“Many of these new roles will be accessible to people with disabilities, who will receive additional support to help them adjust and develop a range of skills.”

Federal Member for Hinkler Keith Pitt who attended the official opening said the facility is equipped with a washer extractor machine, gas dryer, feeding machine and an ironer.

“The laundry will be able to offer its cleaning services as well as linen hire to local businesses, including the hospitality industry and healthcare providers,” Mr Pitt said.

“All profits from the laundry will be redirected into IMPACT Community Services, a not-for-profit organisation whose social programs in Bundaberg will continue to provide more people with new opportunities.”

This project was jointly funded with the Coalition Government investing $900,697 and IMPACT Community Services Inc. contributing $1,660,979.
